BEEF RAISED RIGHT, JUST THE WAY YOU WANT IT

Our herd genealogy: SIMMENTAL

Simmental beef, known for their gentle disposition, originated in Switzerland. The red and white breed spread through Europe, arriving in America in the late 1800s. Bred for their tender meat, these cows also produce copious amounts of milk. Darcy’s grandparents began here.

Adding ANGUS

Darcy purchased the farm and original herd from his grandparents in the 1980s. By the 2010s, the animals had become “leggy” and as he switched them to a more foraged based diet, the steers weren’t filling out well. He introduced Ruben and Ruben 2.0, the Red Angus bulls, to add both weight and girth naturally.

Heading to the HEREFORDS

To keep the genetics fresh, Darcy introduces a new bull every three years. Not only has Murphy done his duty with the ladies and produced fine calves, but he’s a big puppy dog who loves back scratches and acting goofy. We love our “Murphy the Herfy.”

Homegrown goodness

It's all local, all the time

Concerned about the cost of bad farming? So are we. That's why we graze on grass clover and alfalfa, raise our own hay, and finish off our cows with corn from our own fields. That's it. No frills, just 90 acres of pure awesomeness.

Farm Tours

Want to see it to believe it?

Give us a call and stop by for a visit. The cows enjoy the company and the producers love to show off. Want to chat about soil health? Crop rotation? Microorganisms? No problem. Or maybe the kids would enjoy some sunshine and a romp...or a quiet pet with the cat. Just let us know!

THE PURCHASING OPTIONS

We can sell beef to you on the direct market for $4.35 per pound. A quarter of beef usually weighs between 180-200 pounds hanging. You have options about how you like your meat cut, but generally your freezer will contain six to eight roasts, 12-15 steaks, and 75 pounds of ground beef when you order a quarter. An additional fee of approximately $250, depending on weight, is paid directly to the butcher for processing.
